B & W Cattle Company
The Bowie, Warren and Dudiak families

If you are looking for all-natural, hormone and antibiotic-free beef you’ve come to the right place. Our family has been farming this picturesque part of Robertson County since the early 1800s and the current generations are evolving with the times. Cattle have been on the farm from the beginning, providing for the family and being sold to supplement the farm income.

Over the last several years, the focus of our operation has shifted towards meeting the demands of today’s discerning consumer. Our 426-acre farm just north of Nashville is now home to about 100 head of Angus/Simmental cross cows. We have two registered Angus bulls: Traveller and Diversity, and one registered Simmental bull, Lucky.

Most consumers of beef are familiar with “Black Angus Beef,” which is all the rage right now, but may not have heard of Simmentals. Angus were introduced to the United States in 1873 and have earned their reputation as the most popular breed of beef cattle since their introduction. This is due to their meat-marbling ability and higher tenderness values that yield a greater percentage of fine-textured, high-quality meat.

We have infused the Simmental breed with our Angus to produce a bigger-framed beef cow that maintains the quality and tenderness of meat along with an efficiency of gain and growth. According to the American Simmental Association, “The American Simmental is best described as a performance-tested breed of beef cattle created from a blend of the best strains of Simmental cattle that originated in Europe.”

B & W Cattle Company is comprised of the Bowie, Warren and Dudiak families. We are members of the Tennessee Cattlemen’s Association and the National Cattlemen’s Association, and our cattle are “Beef Quality Assurance” certified. Family members attend local conferences and association meetings to stay abreast with latest innovations to make our farm more efficient in our changing society. As an area Natural Resources Conservationist, our farm manager, Jeff Bowie, keeps current on ways to help area farmers better their operations, as well as implementing these practices at our farm.

Our farm is a “Century Farm” dating back to a Tennessee Land Grant in 1825 to our ancestor, Joseph Clinard. This lovely farm is part of our heritage, and we are working hard to make the most of our part of rural America. For more details on our “Century Farm” visit “Our History” page. We are still looking for more links to our Joseph Clinard and James Frank Bowie family history so email us at www.busybeetrader@msn.com.
